A conductivity measurement (also called EC – Electrical Conductivity measurement) measures how well a liquid can conduct electricity. The more dissolved ions (salts, acids, alkalis, minerals) in the water, the higher the conductivity. Main functions of conductivity measurement: Monitor water quality/ Indicates the amount of dissolved ions in water/ Higher conductivity generally means more dissolved chemicals/ Control chemical concentration/ Ensures the correct concentration of chemicals in a process/ Widely used in chemical dosing systems/ Detect contamination/ A sudden increase or decrease in conductivity can indicate contamination, leaks, or dilution/ Control industrial processes/ Used to automatically control dosing pumps, blowdown valves, and chemical feed systems.
